Sugarloaf, Brecon Beacons

A favourite of ours just an hour's drive from Bristol in the Brecon Beacons, the Sugarloaf walk starts in the town of Abergavenny and offers fantastic views across the Black Mountains to the East, and the Pen Y Fan horseshoe to the West.

Start

Fairfield Carpark, Abergavenny, NP7 5TR. The car park costs £4.80 Mon-Sat & £1 Sunday. There are nearby toilet and shopping facilities nearby in the town centre.

Duration:

4-5 hours

Length:

8.5 miles / 14 km

Terrain:

The walk includes paved roads, woodland, steep grass pathways, and a short easy scramble. The woodland stretch can be very muddy and slippery when wet.

Dog friendly?

Yes but please keep dogs under control around livestock.

From Bristol:

A 1 hr 30 min train will take you to Abergavenny, with 1 change at Newport.
